    Is there any specific height limits in the current planning acts etc for Dublin??

    if you can see it from a ministers constituency or from the hq of an taisce in d4 then its too high

    An Taisce are in salubrious Christchurch and on occaision I have seen herion deals being done around the corner.

    But I agree that it is vague enough to engage in a bit of persiflage

    “seen”…i’m sure

    i imagine there couldn’t be upward limits, it would depend on the site, proposal, mood of the planner, current thinking on how tall dublin should go, and the thickness of the wad in the brown envelope

    Well if Citibank (yuck) in IFSC is considered a “skyscraper” in some quarters… then what height guidelines are meaningless.

    Generally yes, but in inner city sites they would be a poor guide as 2.5:1 is the highest in the last plan yet I have seen buildings with 100% site coverage constructed to 6 stories with underground parking. which weould equate to 6 or 7 depending on your outlook

    They used to be absolutely important but now they are more indicative – providing more flexibility to go higher.
    Aesthetic and contextual considerations are increasingly relevant in decisions these days.
