ParticipantHi,
I’m looking for information on the Building Regulations Act, specifically in relation to designing private and public buildings for disabled Access. Can anyone assist me with:
1. What Gov. Dept. is responsible for the Act?
2. Who ensures that the Act is enforced on a local level?
3. Is it well enforced?
3. Where can I get a copy of the ACT?Any other info. would be useful
Many thanks,
Eugene

ParticipantThanks.
Found it. For anyone else that may want it, its at: http://www.environ.ie/planning/construct.html#13
I’ve learned that 12 – 15% is the target number of buildings to be inspected by the Building Enforcement Officer. Seems like there’s potential here for a lot of buildings to slip past unnoticed and unchecked.
Any comments?

ParticipantObviously they can’t check every building. And they probably don’t make their quota. But it isn’t really a big deal. Most of the elements covered are pretty simple to comply with. What exactly are you worried about/ looking into?
