I’ve finally found a forum for my question!
Could anyone tell me what building codes you use in Ireland (specifically Dublin) and how I could get a copy? Is there a website where I could download them or get a paper copy by contacting the right people? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been searching the internet and haven’t been able to find anything…

Uniform building regulations apply in all parts of the Republic of Ireland since 1991. The current regulations are dated 1997. The regulations are expressed as a series of succinct performance requirements in relation to twelve different ‘parts’ of building design – structure, fire safety, site preparation and resistance to moisture, materials and workmanship, ventilation, etc, etc.

Guidance with regard to compliance with the regulations is provided in a suite of Technical Guidance Documents – one TGD per ‘part’ of the regulations. The TGDs are periodically revised and updated, eg http://www.planningpermission.ie/pcie/regulations/pdf/Amendments.pdf

The regulations and TGDs are published by the Department of the Environment and Local Government – purchase details: http://www.environ.ie/planning/construct.html

The state agency, FAS, has prepared some training CDs which might be useful, although I do not know whether these may be used for distance learning – you can enquire: http://www.fas.ie/environmental_training_unit/building_control.html
