Wordy High Court judgments can make your head spin. They might be having that effect on the Board going by some of the numbers given in the new Annual Report – 4 and 8 = 2?
During 2006, High Court judicial review proceedings arising
from the Boardâ€™s decisions and procedures in relation to
appeals and other matters were instituted in 23 cases (36
in 2005). In the course of the year proceedings were
discontinued or dismissed in 9 cases (10 in 2005). Leave
applications for judicial review were refused in 4 cases (9 in
High Court judgements on substantive cases were given in
2 (7 in 2005) cases, 4 (3 in 2005) of which found in
favour of the Board and 8 (4 in 2005) against.
