ParticipantHi
A probably very simple CAD question for you all. Im laying out my plans of a piece of furniture for plotting and I am trying to combine 2d and 3d images on the one page (using floating viewports?) sounds simple, but how do you do it?
How do I bring a perspective view of the piece into one of the floating viewports?
All help appreciated
Its Auto CAD Architectural Desktop 2000 by the way
thanks
John

Participantu should be able to just click into each viewport and select ur view. by selecting a 3d view in one viewport doesn’t make the whole page select it as well.

Participantnow theres a thing. I have drawn and done my dimensions all on one plane, in other words, I havnt used viewports.
So when I go to layout view I have my plan, side and front elevations as I would see them in Model space and I have left a gap at the bottom right for a 3d version of the piece. If I could just insert a box here with the 3d version, I’d be laughin’ But how!?! - May 6, 2004 at 3:38 pm #742685

Participantis the 3d in model space as well? and i prefer to use a different viewport for all drawings even if they are beside each other but that’s just a personal preference.

Participantok..i think i know what u have done. if the 3d is in model space. creatre another viewport in paper space. then dblclick into that and just find the 3d

Participantopen up a new viewport in paper space (VP followed by enter)
enter model space in this new viewport and enter 3d orbit mode (either the green circle on the toolbar, or select the view menu on top and select 3d orbit)
then rightclick inside the yellow circle and select “projection”…then click on “perspective”. zoom around using the roller on your mouse to zoom and pan
when you have the right view setup, go into the page setup and click on the “hide objects” option on the bottom right hand corner
when you go to plot now you should have a solid-looking 3d object along with your 2d stuff
