I am a Masters Planning student and am doing my thesis on Architectural Conservation Areas. It deals specifically with the selection and enforcement of the Areas and is a comparative study using UK models. The aim is to find out whether Ireland (the O’Connell St. ACA) can learn anything from these other models (which include Befast and Glasgow).
Can anyone suggest any literature I should look at or places or bodies I might contact?
I am not sure if it is true or not, but I have recently heard that Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown Co. Council have removed many Architectural Conservation Status from their latest Development Plan. It might be worth having a look at!
