Praxiteles is at a loss to find a liturgical source to support this view which runs completely counter to the gÃ©nie of the Roman Rite. You will not find it, for example, in the rubrics for the Liturgy as found in Ordines Romani I, VII, IX-X, and XV-XVII.
As Praxiteles has already mentioned the idea of clergy “gathering” around a bishop has NO liturgical significance or function at all. The only ministers to surround a bishop are those strictly required for the execution of a given rite and no more.
