Several differences, such as :
1) Anyone calling her/himself a specialist would have a respectable number of previous jobs done in that particular area, with the portfolio/list of house addresses to display.
2) The relevant work done would be regarded respectably by people in general.
3) The architect offering her/himself as specialising would have a genuine interest in this type of building, as opposed to someone whose real interest lay in other types of buildings or, worse, in just seeing the job as simply more business and more money.
4) The architect would be socially congenial to the sorts of people who own and/or live in such houses.
