Has the Garden Front (i.e. the back) ever been cleaned or repointed? To me it has always seemed very dingy in comparison to the principal elevation on Kildare St. If the forecourt there ever were restored and the bewildering amount of ‘protective’ fencing removed, there would be a strong case for reinstating the historic plinth (yes, minus Vicky), with a new sculpture commissioned – even shock, horror – a representaional one. Ideas?
