I’m not trained as an architect but am very keen on the subject. I think the Sean O’Casey Bridge is very elegant and deserves the reward.
This is a real piece of engineering unlike the bridge proposed for the Royal Canal Bridge at Mayor St. which looks like it was designed by a traffic engineer and then given a makeover by an image consultant. Very disappointing, hardly worth the effort!
I know the O’Casey Bridge was won in competition. Was there a comp for the Mayor St. bridge? What were the other proposals like?
