Consisting of a terraced earth berm with a flight of concrete stairs leading to a stage set in the centre of the ornamental lake via bridges.
In 1947, Waterford County Council acquired Ardkeen House and 50 acres of surrounding land.
The new sanatorium at Ballyowen was formally handed over on 28th April 1952.
