The monastery was founded on 30 May 1832 at Scrahan,
Opened in 1948 ‘The Hydro’ had a staff of seven and housed a number of thermostatically controlled sea water baths as well as a restaurant.
In 1947, Waterford County Council acquired Ardkeen House and 50 acres of surrounding land.
