The Gothic cathedral dates from the 13th and 14th century and occupies the site of three earlier churches.
The castle has been modified throughout its history. Around 1050, it did not resemble a defensive fortress but a large agricultural domain.
Originally opened 24 April 1823 and destroyed in a fire just twenty years later.
