Built 1906 as headquarters of Frimley Urban District Council (later renamed Frimley and Camberley Urban District Council),
In 1895, Walter Brierley and John Demaine were employed by North Riding County Council to be the architects for the new building.

The Crown and Mitre Hotel was built in 1905 on the site of the original Crown and Mitre Inn which dates back to before the Jacobite Rebellion of 1746.
