ParticipantWould anyone know when the current Kevin Street Garda Station was built, and whether the former archbishop’s palace served as the station up to the time the new station came into service?

The current Garda Station is largely comprised of the former Palace of St Sepulchre, although very little detailing from that time is immediately apparent. However, if you are interested in the building, there is a very ornate 16th / 17th c doorway inside the building on the first floor – and from experience a polite phone call in advance secured access kindly provided. The door and case features fruit detailing in bold coloured, and carved form – its a secret gem. If you do visit, I would also recommending checking out Marshes Library next door also, which was formerly also part of palace.
