ParticipantI was just wondering if we could perhaps embarrass the ESB and City Council into doing something about the disgraceful state of some of the power line installations around Cork City Centre
This is a fine example of an ESB pole on Wellington Road, one of the most architecturally significant streets on the Northside of the City Centre.
If you see an installation like this, please, take out your camera phone and snap a photo.
The most pathetic thing about this image, is that this poll has looked like this for several years, including the nice bit of installation art i.e. the weird plastic bag thing, up at the top.
There are times that ESB’s overhead installations look more like something you’d expect to find in the developing world, than in Western Europe.

Keymasteralways wondering what the tarps are for in ‘installations’ like this – half hearted attempt at weatherproofing?

InactiveI suspect it was put up when the building near by was scaffolded and it simply wasn’t removed.
Sometimes you see cables wrapped or with props between them to keep them apart too. This is because the cables are sagging as they’re running too warm!!
This is what happens when they overload and sag enough to touch
