ParticipantI am severely disabled and recently rehoused in public housing stock due to my decline in mobility.
I would like to research what are the ‘rules and regulations’ in regard to providing a home for a person who uses a scooter, who will go on to be a permanent wheelchair user and yet rehoused in a place totally unsuitable.I want to know what are the regulations in regard to ACCESS to my accommodation, in law.
Access into my common area in front of the small unit, provision of a suitable gate access to drive a scooter through with ease.
Provision for extra space for all that a person in my state needs, eg a room for use as a physiotherapy space as i bought such equipment as physiotherapy is not available in the community (YES, another site and forum issue i am afraid)
I want to understand what my rights are as a disabled persons in relation to the county council who put me in acccomodation smaller than my last place, indeed it must be one of the smallest units (we dont live in a home we live in ‘units’)!
You cannot swing a cat.
they also took away my second room which was available to me in my last home and put up the rent on this one in the process.
I am in a desperate state over this.
This should never have happened but it has.
I need to know the architectural rules under disability regulations for housing a person in social housing in the Dublin/South county Dublin area, eg Dun Laoghaire borough!!!!
thank you in anticipation
