ParticipantSome public servants in the 50-plus category may take a hint from the Public Service Task Force suggestion that: “The public service needs to ensure that careers of senior managers are planned on a system-wide basis; that potential leaders are identified early in their career and given a range of work placements and training opportunities to assist their development. This will also ensure that there is a strong mobility at senior levels, not just on promotion but also laterally.”
A fairly decent article by Gerald Flynn of Align Management Solutions which tackles the modern reality of a changing workplace I think.

Now, if only we could persaude the profession of architecture to embrace the new idea, it would be a real help too.

These ideas to do with how people gain experience they need in order to develop their potential as leaders is long overdue in Ireland. I am glad to see the public service leading the way.

Anyone care to take a stab at saying something visionary and carismatic? (I’m worn out)
