RIAI’s Architecture Ireland Database Access?

Hi Guys,
I’m currently working on my dissertation and I really need to get some plans from an article on the Cork Civic Offices in Architecture Ireland but the library doesn’t have a scanner and won’t let me take the magazine out. :rolleyes:
Does anyone know if it is made available on any of the databases, I’ve tried the IHS but unfortunately they only seem to have really old stuff from AI on there.

UCD library?hey spoil_sport thanks for the suggestion, tried it already and it turned out crap even after tidying it up in photoshop.
The text on the back of the page I was photographing was showing through, and the text on the drawing itself was pretty unreadable. 🙁The library in richview has a scanner, and surley has Arch Ireland, and last time I checked, you don’t have to prove your a student to get into either.

Cheers but its a bit of a spin all the way to Dublin just to use UCD’s lovely facilities, I think I’ll just give in and try to trace over the photo, who knows it might turn out to be even better than the AI drawing!

I tried, they don’t have a back issue store on their website, just says to email them which I did and didn’t hear back so they obviously don’t want their money.
I was being a bit flppant, so nothing personal; I’ve not been over-impressed with their pr in the past, so I’m not surprised at the non-response. The RIAI at Merrion Sq normally has back issues, although I can see that is giving you a terrible run-around. Surely an architects’ practice near you could lend you a copy.

Its the April, 2007 (number 228) issue.
It’s such a pain that they don’t make all there articles available on the IHS, theres a couple there from that edition but not the one I need. The IHS is such a brilliant resource, but not when it comes to RIAI publications I guess, of course this would be a non-problem if our library had a scanner :rolleyes:. Anyways, thanks for all your suggestions guys.
That won an RIAI award for access last year, so it must have been publish in the RIAI book.
So your only problem is you cant scan it? What’s the issue with photocopying it and scanning it outside the library, are you worried about image quality? If its a line drawing, I really don’t think you’d loose all that much quality, and if you print it smaller than what it is published at you really shouldn’t have any problems; and if it really is that important, I’d be inclined to try to contact the architect, (ABK right? I know one of the directors there teaches in UCD, they might be sympathetic) It seems like you are making this unnecessarily hard on yourself, what would people have done before scanners?
