I’m currently undergoing a design proposal which is centred around the function of an IT/computer lab. The proposed space is orientated on the North to combat the issues of overheating in Summer months and coupled with heating demand in the Winter. Are there any proven case studies that orientate the main functional space on the cold side of its building, nationally or internationally?
As a IT/Networks guy who lurks on these boards I’d say anything that would improve passive cooling of a Server room/Lab would make life easier. I believe Microsoft actually decided to setup a colocation (data-centre) in Ireland recently due to savings on Air-con due to what they regard as our moderate climate.
