S.O.S.
ParticipantI work in the area of sash window restoration.
I had a lady call me and ask me to come across to Limerick City to view some windows and I was wondering if on the way there are any interesting buildings with good examples of sash or casement windows in them to look at or photograph.
I’ll be driving from Dun Laoghaire.
Thanking you in advance.

InactiveI can’t remember if it has original windows, I think it may, but there’s an interesting big early 18th century house in Mountrath, as you leave town heading down the Limerick direction. It’s very distinctive with an altered tripple gable arrangement to the front. I’d appreciate a snap of it, if you’re passing.

Inactivethere are some wonderful example of french Huguenot architecture on Main street and Patricks street, Portarlington…
and of course, Emo Court is always worth a visit…If you want to take a small detour through Abbeyleix, you could check out Heritage house, BOI, Preston House, Pembroke Terrace and market house in the square which has been fully restored….

Strange route, Henno. I love the old National School just outside Abbeyleix on the Rathdowney road. Have photos somewhere, got to dig ’em out.
