the Building Control Act 2007, makes provision for starting works before a fire cert is issued under the 7 day rule. http://www.oireachtas.ie/viewdoc.asp?DocID=7909&CatID=87
is this really the case? does this mean that works can start providing an undertaking is made to make alterations later if they dont meet the regulations. the works i am doing are very minor.

also how would i go about obtaining a previous fire certificate for a building built less than 5 years ago?
      many thanks for the help.

As far as I know Regulations outlining the workings of the Act have to be made before the Act becomes into use.

how do you mean? this act is already law? are you saying construction canniot start till a fire cert is granted?
how come it states here http://www.doingbusiness.org/ExploreTopics/DealingLicenses/Details.aspx?economyid=93
      “Procedure 6.
      Obtain Fire Safety Certificate
      Time to complete:
      89 days
      Cost to complete:
      EUR 1,000
      Comment:
This certificate is required before a building may be lawfully occupied. Drawings, specifications, and evidence of compliance with same will be required as will physical inspection of works. Normally, the company will request this certificate 90 days before completing the warehouse, so it does not delay its completion.”
it seems it is a cert that is needed for occupation not for construction or am i wrong?
