InactiveI’d love to know last time 20 cars had 60 people in them. I’d say more like 25 in 20 cars.

InactiveThe average car trip has no more than 2 passengers in Ireland based on an EU study (even though it is based on 1997 figures I can only assume since there are more cars on the road today the situation is even worse.)
http://reports.eea.europa.eu/ENVISSUENo12/en/page029.htm
From personal experience based on my cycle commute everyday, I see about 2 passengers per car maximum as an average here in Dublin.
Would the problem be solved if Dublin Bus were to switch to cleaner fuels like many other cities do with their bus system?

Inactiveok say 2 people per car five cars = 730 grams
and 10 people per bus = 1400 grams approxdoes that add up for you? buses are worst!!!!
I don’t hate buses I just think the government needs to invest in better public transport
:confused::confused::confused:

InactiveI also agree that Dublin could invest in some better public transport. Where do you get your figure regarding only 10 people per bus? I thought that the capacity of the buses were 60?

the capacity is closer to 80 or 90 most buses, and some of the buses (the 3-axels that run the 46a route) are rated for 119 passengers

InactiveI have read a statistic recently but can’t quote where from that a bus averages out at only 14 passengers at a time over the course of a full week.

I can’t believe that, I get a lot of buses, often at odd times, and they seem never to be emptier than 14 and are frequently much much fuller and if a bus spends half an hour with 56 people on it, it would have to spend a matching hour and a half completely empty to get an average of 14.

InactiveIf you consider a lot of late evening buses could be almost empty, this is possible.
I used to have cause to occasionally get the 16/16a citybound from the northside at 10pm or so on weekday evenings, and i’d often be the only person on the bus until Beaumont, and one of only 10 or so right in until Drumcondra.
I presume other less frequent routes simply don’t have passengers at these times? - November 22, 2007 at 6:43 pm #795715

you get how much money they spend on fuel…
the number of km
the number of peopleyou could calculate the number people based on km or time???

Is it ture the average bus speed is 6 km an hour in peak hour???
