Participant…from an architectural perspective with the €16,185,749 jackpot?
Obviously KerryBog2 already has his fairytale mansion, so that excludes one member anyway, but for the rest of us mere mortals, what would you build/develop/demolish/alter with such an amount? 🙂

KeymasterGood one.
Given that 8m was lashed out on the Schwartz design for Grand Canal Square, I’d spend the 16m on implementing a comprehensive IAP for College Green which should also include Grafton St. imo …
I reckon such a plan would effect maximum roi in terms of enhancing the city centre (got me business hat on;) … now there’s a whole kettle of crap in there, luas and all, but sure you all know my opinion on that !
Note.
I might be looking for a jackpot of 20 mill before i’d be giving the city 16 😉 with a further 20 to give to charity & ease my social conscience. - July 29, 2007 at 12:16 pm #790416

I’d like to build a costly big feck-off yoke that says I’m-here-now-look-at-me-amn’t-I-great; something brash and shiny – something that symbolises The New Ireland – in other words it doesn’t have to be useful or mean anything at all, just as long as its not Old Ireland – and then, wait for it, drop it in the middle of O’ Connell St…. Ooops just remembered somebody’s done that already 😮
Okay 2nd preference…What about a marble elephant to adourn the front of Leinster House once the “temporary” car-park is removed? Pink or white – you can take your choice, just as long as it’s fixed in place to prevent throwing, and comes complete with trapdoors underneath to enable Govt ministers to infiltrate an unsuspecting electorate should the need arise…
1 Marble Elephant for Leinster Lawn FTW! 🙂

Inactivejesus that actually looks better than just the one spire. hah and given the location, they could do a ballymun on it by building 7 and naming each one after a signatory of the proclamation! Pearse Spire? Connolly Spire? feckin hell, let’s do it!
ah no, someone won the jackpot last night. Damn it. Gonna have to wait a bit longer to get the main street we truly want 🙂

I’d build one in the back yard and put the TV ariel on top so I could watch RTE2 and Channel 4 properly. Although it would probably be cheaper to get satellite TV instead, or destroy the hill behind my house that disrupts the signal
I was never much good with money.

InactiveOr just buy a house closer to the transmitter? Or even better: move the transmitter closer to your house.
sw, out of all the ideas mooted for reinforcing the linear nature of O’Connell Street, this has to be the winner by a mile. It’s so obvious in hindsight – why didn’t we think of it?
The simplest ideas are always the best.
