      I’m just curious, and on the other side of the Alps (we have sun here by the way, just thought I’d throw that in), but what’s that thing in the Liffey at O’Connell Bridge, and what’s it up to. Thanks.

      Possibly related to the geotechnical works mentioned by adhoc here? https://archiseek.com/content/showthread.php?p=68670

      This is just a guess as I haven’t seen the thing you’re referring to.

      Walked past today and saw that they were taking core samples from the bed of the liffey.. there seems to be similar work going on up near the spire.

      Yup – as adhoc mentioned, they’re geotechnical investigations for Metro North, also happening outside NIB on O’Connell Street and on Eden Quay last week.
      Not quite as large as the Liffey unit mind 🙂

      Could they give the lads on it a few shovels and have them cart away some of the muck on the bottom?
