Hello. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you might offer in regards to a house I am researching called “Newlands House” which was on Naas Road at Newland’s Cross, Clondalkin, Co. Dublin. I believe this structure was torn down in the 1980s.

Some names I have found in association with this house are Lord Kilwarden, Arthur William Shute, Trench, Cummins, Mullins, Rt. Hon. Peter O’Brien, Bernard Dowd, Esq., Thomas Dowd and Wolfe.

My interest in the structure is primarily for the period during the Great Famine when it was inhabited by a group known as the “White Quakers”. My great-great-grandfather, Joshua Jacob, was one of the leaders of this group, along with Abigail Beale.

I would be most appreciative of any information you might be able to provide. I would be willing to pay your costs for making copies, of course. Likewise, if there are any preserved photos, I would be extremely grateful for the opportunity to have copies made.

Thank you in advance for any information or assistance you can offer.

      Best wishes,

Liz France, 2905 Sunset Way, St. Pete Beach, FL 33706, USA

Newland’s House was on the site of the current Newland’s Golf Club – I remember going there when I was young – the building itself was knocked about 1895 if I remember rightly. Someone in the club might have info on the history of the building try http://www.newlandsgolfclub.com/
