ParticipantCan anyone help me answer this question: How many parking places (public and private) are there in Dublin City? I need the answer for a project on land use in Dublin that I’m working on
I am looking for imaginative suggestions as to how I can estimate this number. I can’t seem to find it anywhere
I can think of a few ideas:
There are banners on O’Connell Street proudly proclaiming that there are 10,000 public parking places in Dublin.
Anyone know the source for this estimate?
Get a list of multistoreys and their capacities.
Contact the corpo and ask for the number of metered spaces.
I could use numbers from a similar city to Dublin that had an accurate count.
Residential housing estates generally have the same number of spaces per house, so I’d find that number and multiply by the number of houses in the estate.
Aerial photosFinding the number of spaces in offices & apartment blocks is going to be hard. Any ideas?

ParticipantA PhD student in the Dept of Planning and Environmental Policy in UCD (used to be Dept of Regional and Urban Planning) did a thesis on parking in Dublin. I think his name is Andrew Kelly. It was on parking pricing afaik, but it might have the info you require, or at least some useful leads.
