InactiveOver the years we have all seen screen printed cloth advertisements draped over buildings. Many are used during the construction of a building as health and Safety regulation requires protection from falling materials onto the street below. π
Many more are of a very temporary nature such as Charities promoting their one day annual appeal π or even the Dublin Chamber of Commerce promoting E-Week and the sign will promptly disapear π
Then we have the serial offender such as Stein Travel in Camden St who not only make extremely tasteless adds but choose to display them on their premises in contravention of the planning acts on a semi-permanent basis. π‘
But this has all been topped this week by O2 who have covered virtually the entire front facade of the former Bord Na Mona building at 76 lower Baggot St, this award winning building is draped with the image of St Kevin’s Kitchen in Glendalough being drapped in semi neon lights.
O2 sponsor the annual An Taisce environmental awards is this breach of the planning law not a blatent contradiction in terms?

its all about sponsorship and exposure…you highlighting the point here is only helping o2’s case.
remember there’s no such thing as bad publicity. go and object if it bothers you so much. i can’t see much harm in what they’re doing

I think it is more an issue for An Taisce than O2, who they choose to give kudos to as ‘Good Corporate Citizens’

I wouldn’t complain except that 76 Baggot St is an important contemporary building.
It would be different if it were a STW mail order block in Sandyfordπ
