The old Thomas Reads shop on Parliament St (dating from 1670) has now been closed for at least 5 years, I imagine. Does anyone know what the story is? I presume its owned by whoever owns the pub next door? I seem to recall the closure was only meant to be “temporary”.
The place has obviously been neglected and the woodwork on the outside is rotting; are they just hoping that after a while, people will have forgotten the shop and it will in such a state of disrepair, they will (sadly and with great lament, of course) have to close it down altogether and renovate it?
