ParticipantSee that a house where the Nobel Prize Winner Seamus Heaney once lived was demolished yesterday in Northern Ireland. It was a fine red bricked Victorian/Edwardian house too by the looks of it. Are they suffering from our illness too ‘demolishmentalitis’ or was it just plain bigotry.

ParticipantI think you read too much into this………but did he not refuse or decline the position of Poet Lauriate when offered to him on the basis of his “background†!! ……….so it works both ways. Regardless of him living there it was a fine example of a twin bay-windowed Edwardian residence.

ParticipantIt is called parity of esteem.
We knock the former Carson house in Dublin, Belfast knocks the Heaney house.
Whatever about our differences, we dont disagree very much about conservation or heritage issues!
