€7m Hugh Lane blueprint
THE new planning blueprint for the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art at Parnell Square, Dublin 1 will effectively double the size of the existing facility, adding a further 1646 sq m to the existing facility.
Planning permission for a €7.2m development is now being sought, to include Nos 20/21 Parnell Square. The proposed development will include the demolition of the former Banba Hall/National Ballroom
Gate gets the go-ahead
DUBLIN’S Gate Theatre is set for a facelift. The theatre at Cavendish Row has been granted permission for a redevelopment to include a new three storey over basement extension comprising a new rehearsal room, booking office, scene dock, offices and new entrance steps/ramps. This will entail the demolition of the Pillar Room foyer.

ParticipantThat’s great..the Hugh Lane is a good little gallery……..containing Francis Bacon’s studio and several quite distinguished paintings and artworks by the likes of Monet, Manet, Courbet, Beuys..etc. It well deserves an injection of funds for expansion.
