The Civic Museum is a curiously unloved place, rarely does a foot fall there.

However, afficionados of this board might like to call in to see the exhibition of old postcards showing the Dublin region. Much of architectural interest. Not only the city corporation area but suburbs as well as places such as Balbriggan. Some of them are fairly common, but some are fairly rare – including one of Dun Laoire baths incidentally.

It is, however, very hard to see some of them, as they are in plastic sleeves, in deep glass cases and there are huge problems with reflections and glare.

and for a differnt take on it all visit Sean Hillen’s site at http://www.irelantis.com

He has taken some old John Hinde postcards and cut them up under a microscope and merged them with other images

The “Dubliners” exhibition in the National Photographic Archives on Meetinghouse Square / Rory Gallagher Corner is worth seeing too.
