I am looking for the name of the building/architect…
Of a building in Temple Bar Square, Dublin.
The Facade has retail on the ground floor and a very engaging brick/steel/glass. (I am looking at a black & white photo).

I live in the US so I have no way of knowing, any ideas?

      Thank you for your time.
      Sincerely,

      Alcahun
      P.S. A picture is shown at: http://www.temple-bar.ie/flash/maptbp.htm

The architect was (I think) a guy called Gerard Carty who works for Grafton Architects in Dublin – a very talented very bright character ,certainly one of the most ‘natural’ designers I’ve ever known.

Its quite a sophisticated scheme although the accommodation is somewhat cramped internally for some tastes, it does the utmost allowable with a very restricted site.

There’s a lot more to the building than initially meets the eye. The facade is drawn taut over a combination of shops, restaurants, voids and apartments. The accomodation is reached through the vertical slit shown in the attached pictures, (if I manage to send them OK) this leads to an exterior stair and a series of landings.
I think it is one of the most underrated buildings in Temple Bar. – But there you go – maybe the facade is doing it’s job.

I t certainly seems underrated, that facade alone deserves more praise.

Please, can you send the pictures you attached to my email address?

      Thank you in advance.
And if sombody out there has pictures of the building, I would appreciate you sent them to the above address.
      Sincerely,

      Alcahun
