InactiveIs this just a rumour?
The Chester Beatty library (as in the 1950’s building) was listed and has now been de-listed and so may be demolished by the new owners?
If so, why no fuss re. Archers? It has one of the nicest modernist interiors of any public Irish building.
Please everyone, can we do something?

InactiveYes another nice building bites the dust.
(The original one). Surely we could have found a use for it.Hope the neighbours are happy with a lot of apartments instead. - November 17, 1999 at 4:44 pm #712865

KeymasterI’ve contacted the Planning Department of Dublin Corporation. It seems that it is not currently listed. Am awaiting information from other sources as to if it were listed in previous years.

KeymasterAccording to the Corporation
“The Chester Beatty Museum on Shewsbury Road has never been listed for protection
in a Dublin City Development Plan. The Museum was considered for inclusion in
the Dublin City Development Plan 1999 and obtained the temporary protection of
listing while part of the proposed amendments to the Draft Dublin City
Development Plan 1999. However, the museum was not successful in being included
in the final adopted Development Plan.”
