Located on East Divide Avenue, just north of the State Capitol, the uniquely designed Manhattan Building was built in 1965 to house Northern National Life Insurance. It merged with the Manhattan firm in 1978, but didn’t become Manhattan National Life Insurance until in 1982. The following year, the company relocated most of its operations to New York. The designer Herman Leonhard was a local architect.
