1899 – House, Sibbertoft, Northampton

Architect: Sheppard & Harrison

0034

“This house, which is mostly an addition (the hall and servants’ quarters being old), and drawing near completion, is being built for Major Mansel, of Welford Manor, Rugby, at a cost of about £2,701. Externally, the house is built of Whitwick red bricks, the upper story being either tile-hung or half-timbered in the ” black and white” style ; it is heated by hot water, on the low-pressure system, radiators being placed in corridors and on landings only, and the domestic water supply, which is from a well, and also collected from roots, is pumped up by means of a hot-air engine, and stored in a large tank in roof. The old outbuildings have been altered, and commodious stabling provided, there being loose boxes and stalls for ten horses, with coach-house, harness room, Etc. Messrs. Sheppard, borough surveyor, and H. Harrison, M.S.A., of Newark, are the architects, and the work has been carried out by Messrs. Tate and Eastwood, of Market Harborough.”
