Later extended in the same style – six bays added to the east. The school was opened in January 1895 in the Parade, Cardiff, under the terms of the Welsh Intermediate Education Act 1889, hence its initial name of the Cardiff Intermediate School for Girls, changed in 1911 to (City of) Cardiff High School for Girls. Described by local historian J.B.Hilling as “designed with a mixture of styles incorporating a Doric portico, Dutch gables, tall Tudor brick chimneys and a large octagonal copula over the staircase hall”. No longer a school after a merger and relocation to a new modern complex.
