1899 – Silverbirches House, Apsley Heath, Bedfordshire

“The above house has been erected on a charming site on the outskirts of the Woburn Estate, and in the midst of exquisite woodland scenery. The lower part is built of red sand-faced brick, and the upper part of stucco, and covered with a red tile roof. The work has been carried out by Messrs. Spencer, builders, Retford. The architects are Messrs. Brewill and Baily, Pelham Chambers, Angel-row, Nottingham.” Perspective View including ground & 1st floor plans published in The Building News, June 2nd 1899.

Described by Pevsner as “At the end of Silverbirches Lane. By Brewill and Bailey 1898. Typical of its date. Brick, gabled, with mullioned windows and a pretty, square, domed turret above the entrance.”
