1963 – 333 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Architect: Smith Carter Searle
Built between 1959-63 for Monarch Life, it is now used as the headquarters of the Workers Compensation Board. Set back from the street, the building has a shallow raised plaza to the front, with an identical facade to the rear, with two plainer stone clad side elevations. This is one of the best examples of the 1960s modernism movement in Winnipeg, with its undulating facade and use of materials. The exterior was recently restored.
