The design provides a day-lit modern clinical environment while maintaining the existing historic presence of the Dental Hospital on Lincoln Place designed by Richard Orphen. The existing and new buildings are linked by an atrium, which created a new primary circulation zone and tied the buildings together – the main entrance is from the original building. Externally the extension is characterised by the large curving brick facade to the campus entrance at Lincoln Place and a curious tower.
