Canadian General Electric Company was founded in the late 19th century to manufacture and distribute electrical equipment during the period when electrical power was first generated for commercial and residential use. Northwood & Chivers were responsible for many of the city’s outstanding commercial and public projects in the 1920s and 1930s, especially those in an Art Deco style.
