English-born architect Holmes designed numerous churches and buildings for the Archdiocese of Toronto including St. Augustine’s Seminary, he had studied or worked for a time with George Edmund Street. The new church was completed and dedicated by Archbishop McNeil in October, 1915, after ten houses where purchased and demolished to make way for the new church. Total cost of $115,000.
