1925 – Former Northern Bank, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan

Architect: Godfrey W. Ferguson

Curiously over-conservative design (even for a bank) in a vague Neo-Georgian style that was slowly gaining in popularity for smaller municipal buildings after the trauma of the First World War. Indeed, this branch would fit in a small English market town with the lovely stretcher bond brick. The manager’s residence is squeezed in on the southern side. One of the banking hall windows has been altered to allow for the insertion of an ATM beneath. Now a branch of Bank of Ireland who moved along Main Street to this site.
