1963 – Credit Foncier Building, 286 Smith Street, Winnipeg
Architect: Macleod Reimer & Webster
The northernmost of a row of three Modernist buildings from the 1950s and ’60s, a former Dominion Bank, and the Foster Marks Building next door completes the trio. The architects Macleod Reimer & Webster were clearly exploring undulating façade treatments at this time; they produced another building, 825 Sherbrook, in the same year with a more pronounced wave. Quite understated, a touch of luxury is brought to the design by marble panels and gold coloured window framing.
