1960 – Courtyard House, Delvin, Co. Westmeath

Modern u-plan house constructed around an internal courtyard. Starkly modern for its time in rural Ireland, the house has large windows, glazed doors to the courtyard and clerestory windows between the roof beams externally and internally. This allows light to flow through the internal spaces. David Duignan (d.2016) was a midlands-based architect who specialised in one-off house building.
