1915 – The Pavilion, Kildonan Park, Winnipeg
Kildonan Park was originally designed by George Champion (1870-1946) who was the park’s Superintendent. George Champion was employed at the gardens at Kew before coming to Canada in 1897, eventually moving to Winnipeg in 1907 to become Superintendent of the Parks Board. A few years after the park opened, this, the first pavilion was constructed. It was a fairly typical classical park pavilion topped by an octagonal cupola, and cost C$13,000 to construct. Demolished to create parking spaces for its replacement pavilion in the 1960s.
