1957 – Greenwood Mixed School, Belfast
Architect: Henry Lynch-Robinson & Robert McKinstry
Now known as Greenwood Infant School, and largely intact externally. The architect Henry Lynch-Robinson was born Henry Adrian Robinson in 1929, into the Anglo-Irish gentry with roots in Dublin and Galway. His attachment to modernist architecture meant that his schemes were often controversial and stood out in the conservative country that was Northern Ireland, despite this, his creative output in the 1950s was extensive. He clearly was a bit of a character as this article explains. He was in partnership with Robert McKinstry for a few years around the start of this project – before McKinstry established his own architectural practice in Belfast in 1956.
