Architect: Board of Public Works

chapelizod-dmp

A station and barrack of D Division of the Dublin Metropolitan Police. The Arts and Crafts style of this former police station is expressed in the chimneystacks, the shape of the window openings, and the fine limestone entrance arch. Recently a residential care home.

“The D.M.P. Barracks at Chapelizod and Bessboro’ have been taken over and occupied by the Royal Irish Constabulary, who will in future police the district formerly in charge of the Dublin Metropolitan Police. The D.M.P. men have been allocated to other Divisions”
