1849 – Court House, Waterford, Co. Waterford
Architect: John B. Keane

Originally built with two courtrooms on a symmetrical plan as was common in the larger towns, this replaced a courthouse by James Gandon constructed in 1784. Gandon’s was demolished circa 1840, and Keane’s building constructed with a fine pedimented hexastyle Ionic portico and beautiful ashlar stonework. Quite similar to his courthouses at Tullamore and Ennis, it was poorly maintained, and in 1977, most of the building was demolished. What remained was the front façade, the public concourse, and the shell of the two courtrooms. Refurbished in the early 1980s and renovated again with an extension 2015-2018.
