Built on the site of an earlier meetinghouse by an unknown architect, the church by Vincent Craig, (his brother was later first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland) is like much of his work, slightly eccentric. Eschewing the paired or even triple doorways of many Presbyterian churches of the 19th century, the church has an unusual arrangement of a central doorway with a secondary entrance under a curious stubby tower.

The architect Vincent Craig was described after his death as having “ample private means”. According to a history of the church written in the late 1940s, “On the 21st April, 1892, the memorial stone of the new church was laid by Mrs. George Raphael Moore, in the presence of a large assemblage…. A handsome silver trowel was presented to Mrs. Moore by Mr. Vincent Craig, architect.”
